Finding Land Finding undeveloped land where we wanted was a 9-month process for us. We made a list of everything we wanted. Best to be SPECIFIC!! For us, it was: trees dead-end road few neighbors city water reasonable driving distance to highway (to get to city/work) north of city county with at least SOME building code restrictions (didn't want someone to build a county dump next door!) highway/road noise minimal or not heard We did indeed find much of what we wanted. Ended up on well water, but found out that the wells on surrounding property were producing good, clean (relatively sulfer-free) water. Ultimately, we did find land through a Realtor who gave us a list based on our criteria. We did everything from watching the newspaper to driving around and knocking on doors if we saw something interesting. Never hurts to ask; plus, you can see how friendly your neighbors might be. ;) Perhaps that only works out here in the friendly midwest. more... http://www.yourloghomeshow.com/modules/article/view.article.php/c8/9
