Just wanted to share with everyone why we started this site. My experience in creating my dream log home was wonderful. We even did almost all of the construction, from laying logs to roofing to finish work. The experience was so wonderful that my spouse and I took a pass at being log home dealers for a couple of years! As a Dealer, we discovered that we had been "lucky". The overwhelming amount of information from the wide variety of professional sources can really be disheartening. We met people who were almost resigned that to have a log home meant to give up their dream. Or that one needed to become and expert in everything from log species characteristics to septic systems. Going to a log home show in your area should be fun!! Yet, the same people who walked in with stars in their eyes, sometimes left with slumped shoulders weighed down with the burden of "kiln-dried vs. air-dried" or other sales pitches ringing in their ears. What to do? Talk to "GENUINE" log home owners that don't have a product they're selling. Great! But how to reach them? One of the charms of log homes is that they are unique, and not a dime-a-dozen. I've known people who actually stopped and randomly knocked on doors. Log home owners are generally very open and happy to invite you in. However, that takes a LOT of time to see very many, and not everyone has the guts to knock on doors. So, this site is where you can "knock on the door" of anyone across the country who "lives" here!
